Golden Wedding

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Biram, of 31, Dane Street, Thurnscoe East, celebrate their Golden Wedding tomorrow (Saturday). They were married at Brampton Bierlow Church and until 12 years ago had lived in West Melton.

They have had nine children, six of whom are living. One son and five daughters are married. They have nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. One of their grandson is serving in the Royal Navy. All the family were christened and have been married at the church their parents were married in. Mr. Biram, who is 72,worked as a collier at Wath Main Colliery until coming to Thurnscoe and was then employed as a collier at Hickleton Main Colliery.

He followed his employment up to five years ago until forced by illness, losing the use of one hand, to give up only this last year. Mr. Biram despite his handicap, and Mrs. Biram who is 68, managed to cultivate their garden. Mrs. Biram doing the digging and her husband the setting. The couple put in five stones of potatoes and still have celery in the garden.
