Thurnscoe Motorist Fined
Jack Harrison, a Thurnscoe miner, who was alleged to drive a car solely for poaching purposes was summoned at Doncaster on Tuesday for using the vehicle without licences or insurance policy.
P.c. Stones said that at 7-210 p.m. on Oct. 18th he was on duty in Houghton Road, Thurnscoe, when he saw Harrison driving a car from King Street into Houghton Road. He shouted fur Harrison to stop and ran alongside the car, but Harrison failed to pull up. The following day the officer saw Harrison and found hlie was without the licences and policy. “I do not need them.” he replied, when charged. “I shall have to prove an alibi.”
Inspector Redfern: What is he suspected of using this car for?—Poaching.
The Inspector told the magistrates that Harrison had 17 previous convictions for motoring and poaching offences. Harrison was fined a total of £5 5s and suspended from driving for a year.
