First Aid At Thurnscoe

The first annual social gathering of the Thurnscoe Division of the St John Ambulance Brigade. The upper photograph shows Mrs. Pickering (extreme right) about to distribute certificates to lady members of the division. Others in the photograph are Dr. and Mrs. Boyle and Mr. Hamilton Russell (agent to the Hickleton Main Colliery), Mr. LeBrun (manager of the colliery), and Supt. and Mrs T. Davies. The lower photograph shows Mr. Hamilton Russell presenting to Private George Hague the trophy for the best individual performance of the year.
