The funeral of Mr G.F. Turner, 9 John Street, Thurnscoe, took place at Thurnscoe Cemetery on Saturday, following a service in the Parish Church, conducted by the Rev D.E. Hughes.

Mr Turner was well known in the village.

In 1926 , as a result of an accident at Hickleton Main, he sustained an injury which left him an invalid.

In his invalid carriage he became one of the most familiar figures in Thurnscoe
