Theft in Police Station
Bernard Inscoe (27) Labourer Church Street. Thurnscoe was committed at Pontefract to-day for two months Imprisonment for stealing a special constable’s tunic, cap, whistle and chain.
It was stated that an inspector went Into the Divisional Clerks office at 10 45 p.m and found defendant on the wrong side, of the counter rummaging in a cupboard and holding a parcel in one hand. It contained the articles named.
Defendant pleaded that went to the police station to ask about a night’s lodging, and that was In the room for 16 minutes before anyone came . He denied the charge and said he was on his way Hull try to join either the Merchant Navy for the fishing fleet.
There were previous convictions against him.
