At Wath, before 1,500 spectators. Wath opened out the game, Roper saving from Ellis. Turner then secured, and after fine combination the visitors’ part Silvester cleared. Ellis again got possession, and centred accurately. Bailey was well up, and scored for Wath.
After midfield play, Wath were awarded a penalty-kick, but Blower shot wide. On resuming, exciting play followed, the visitors showing fine form, and causing the home defence trouble. Roper was then called upon to save from Ellis and Roddis.
Excitement ran high as the game neared its conclusion. Turner missing the home goal by inches. A capital game resulted : Wath Athletic 1 Goal. Hckleton Main 0 Goal.
