At Oxford

Mr Norman Bell, of Wynn View, Thurnscoe, has been awarded a second year scholarship at the Catholic Workers College at Oxford.

He had already had one year at the college and in the second year will take an in intensive course of study in economics, local government and philosophy, in preparation for the University examination for the diploma of economics and political science.

Mr Bell was formerly employed in a small business as van salesman and is well known in the country districts round Thurnscoe. His father is a miner and works at Hickleton Main.

A number of Catholic organisations provide scholarships to this college, but student require in addition to the scholarship a sum sufficient for travelling and personal expenses
