Death Slip for 81 Year Old Widow

October 1938

Sheffield Independent – Saturday 29 October 1938

Death Slip

A verdict of “Death from misadventure,” was returned at a Doncaster inquest yesterday on Lucy Exley (81), widow of Horsemoor road, Thurnscoe, who died at Springwell House Institution on Sunday.

She was admitted on October with serious illness and on that day slipped on the floor.

She made no complaint but after her death X-ray photograph revealed a fracture of the left leg.

Dr. E. G. Rose said that had the fracture been detected before death nothing could have been done for the woman owing to her age and physical condition.
