Girls Grab Wheel as Bus Driver Faints
16 mill girls were going to work at Bradford (Yorks) by bus yesterday when the driver fainted. Seventeen-year-old Glennis Morris of Sandhill Great Houghton pushed him aside, and she and her friend, Ivy Barton, of Park-road, Thurnscoe grabbed the wheel.
The bus was heading for a brick wall, but they managed to steer it fee more than 200 yards, zigzagging across the road. The bus eventually crashed into a telegraph pole.
“I have never driven before in my life,” Ivy told the Daily Mirror.
No one was seriously hurt.
