The Leeds Robbery Charge

Thurnscoe Girl Bound Over.

At the West Riding Assizes on Wednesday, Stanley Whittaker was sentenced to three months’ hard labour for unlawfully wounding Mrs Cainer, of Grange View, Chapeltown, Leeds, and for stealing clothes from her house. He was acquitted on charges of wounding with intent and of demanding money by menaces.

Ethel Crowe, of Thurnscoe, who was in Mrs. Gainer’s employ as a domestic servant, was found guilty of theft “under the stress of the excitement of the moment,” and was bound over generally to be of good behaviour.
