That Denaby `Dose’ Again
It was “as you were” at Denaby on, Saturday. Out of the Tickhill Square medicine chest came a dose of “Ellis and Munden” and Frickley could hardly have enjoyed the taste of it. However, they were not asked to achieve distinction ay an outright win, or even attempt such a formidable task, for with only seven runs on the board rain dictated that so far as points were concerned, the honours should be shared.
Well over half of Denaby’s runs-184 for 6—were made by Ellis and Munden, the stand following a pattern familiar to Denaby supporters, Ellis, slow but sure; Munden, fast and furious. At 104 Ellis saw the wickets thrown down before he could get home. He had made 41, and Munden followed a few minutes later with 80 to his credit, including 13 boundaries. The rest of the Denaby innings was distinguished only by the bowling of Liddle, whose three wickets brought his total to 20 for the season. He took them in five overs at a cost of 27 runs.
