The wedding took place at Saltaire Methodist Church of Miss Margaret Moss, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Moss. 6, Hirst Wood Crescent, Shipley, and Pilot Officer Kenneth Hollingsworth, R.A.F., V.R., eldest son of Coun. and Mrs. H. Hollingsworth. 39, Chapel Street, Thurnscoe.
The bride was attended by Misses Jean Dutton, Joan Moss and Pamela Hollingsworth.
Sergt. H. R. Bedford, R.A.F., V.R., and Sergt. John Hollingsworth, R.A.F., V.R., were best man and groomsman.
The bride was dressed in a gown of white cloque, with net embroidered veil held by a coronet of white camellias and orange blossom, and carrying a sheaf of Arrissi lilies. Misses Jean Dutton and Joan Moss were attired in gowns of forget-me-not blue cloque, with head-dresses of shaded mauve camellias. Miss Pamela Hollingsworth wore a dress of pale pink with sash and coronet of blue to tone. All carried sweet peas.
The bridegroom, a well-known local sportsman, was captain of rugby at Wath Grammar School before proceeding to St. Paul’s College, Cheltenham, where he also obtained his rugby colours. He taught for a time at Bentley, and then went to Shipley where he was in charge of physical training, games and music at Saltaire Road Senior Boys’ School.
He made a name for himself in Yorkshire Rugby Union circles while playing with Bradford Rugby Union Football Club, for whom he played scrum-half when they won the Yorkshire Cup in 1940. A year ago he joined the Royal Air Force and gained quick promotion obtaining his commission in July, 1941.
Among the presents were gifts from Messrs. Frank Wigglesworth and Co., Ltd,, Shipley, by whom the bride is employed; the staff of Saltaire Road Senior Boys’ School; the scholars; Saltaire Methodist Choir, and Saltaire First Aid Depot.
