Private Donald S Turner, R.A.M.C., son of Mr and Mrs GH Turner, Thurnscoe Bridge Lane, Thurnscoe, was awarded the commandant’s prize for the best Academic recruit at a passing out parade at the Keogh barracks, Aldershot.

Mr Mrs Turner were present to see their son receive his award.

Private Turner, a former student at Wath Grammar School, joined the R.A.M.C.in October 1966, for a nine year engagement, and is now joining a Corporals’ course for a month, to be followed by three years course in Physiotherapy.
