£52 gold watch gift for Billy Thompson

Billy Thompson, British and European light-weight hoxing champion, was presented with a £52 gold wristlet watch from members of the Coronation Club, Thurnscoe, to-night.

The watch was handed over by Mr. Arthur Morrisey, president. It had been hoped that Freddie Mills, British and European light heavy-weight champion, would make the presentation, but other engagements prevented him doing so.

Thompson said that was glad to back among his own folks, but was looking forward to his American tour, which he felt would give him valuable experience.
