A Driving Lesson.
At Doncaster on Tuesday, Alfred Greenolf, miner, of Thurnscoe, was fined 9s. for having driven a motor-cycle without a licence. For having aided and abetted, George Newby, plasterer, of Thurnscoe, was fined a similar amount.
P c. France said he saw Greenoff riding a motor-cycle along Station Road, Thurnscoe with Newby as pillion passenger. When they returned a few minutes later Newby was driving the machine with Greenoff on the pillion.
Witness stopped them and asked Greenoff for his driving licence. Be replied: “I have not got one.” Witness told him he would he reported for the offence and that Newby would be reported for aiding and abetting. Newby said : “I was only teaching him to drive.”
Defendants did not appear in answer to the charge.
