A New Urban District.

The West Riding County Council have notified the Thurnscoe Parish Council that they have made order, dated the 2nd May, 1907, constituting part of that township an urban district.

Under this rearrangement an outlying portion of the township is transferred for administration purposes to the township of Clayton-with- Frickley, in the rural district of Doncaster.

The order will not come into operation until after the day of the first meeting of the Council to be elected by the ratepayers of the new urban district on such date the Local Government Board may prescribe.

Thurnscoe is a village which has rapidly come to the front through the development of the South Yorkshire coalfield, depending practically for its employment on the Hickleton Main Colliery
