Australia Bound

Another couple seeking a new life in Australia are Mr and Mrs John William (Bill) Dixon and their two sons, Stephen aged one, and Stuart, aged four months.

They sail from Southampton next Friday, and are travelling down overnight to the docks.

Mr Dixon (26), lived at Norman Street, Thurnscoe, until his marriage three years ago. He was a mechanical fitter with Parsons Turbine Company at Ferrybridge Power Station, and the family lived at Ferrybridge after their marriage.

His wife, Margaret (22), is the eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Alan Mellor, of Sycamore Road, Mexborough, and the couple are saying there until next week.

Mr and Mrs Dixon have always wanted to emigrate. They had thought of going to New Zealand, but friends who recently emigrated to Australia wrote to them about the country, and so they decided to go there.

Mr Dixon has been offered a job with a branch of his present company at Adelaide, Southern Australia
