Collision With The Police.

Abraham Hill, miner, of Thurnscoe, was summoned at Doncaster on Tuesday, for obstructing the police on Sunday, May 24th, at 10.25 p.m. in Grange Road, Thurnscoe, and denied the offence.

P.c. France said he had occasion to speak to a man named Fairhurst when defendant said to Fairhurst, “Don’t give thy b——   name, let go at him.” Witness told defendant to go away but he again interfered. Witness again told defendant to go away and not interfere, or else he would take him to the police station. The situation, at the time was awkward because had men standing round taken any notice of what Hill said, he (witness) would have had a rough time.

Defendant said he was sorry.

Witness added that defendant was sober enough at the time to know what he was doing.

Inspector Taylor said defendant had been previously convicted, once for stealing. The Chairman (Mr. J. Dymond): This is a very serious offence, and you will have to pay a £3 fine.
