Commissioner’s Camp

District Scouts at Clumber.

One hundred and eighty boy scouts from the Doncaster Association, including those from Mexborough, Denaby, Goldthorpe and Thurnscoe are at present in camp at Clumber Park, Nottingham.

They left Doncaster on Saturday to spend a week there at the invitation of Major M. E. Clark, District Commissioner for the Doncaster Association, who meets all expenses.

Major Clark has been holding camps annually for the last ten years, and other places where they have been held are Parlington, Stappleton and Chatsworth Parks.

The camp is split into four sections of four patrols. Scoutmaster Green of Goldthorpe, the oldest scout in the Doncaster area is in charge of one of the troops.

Friends visited the camp on Sunday, and were impressed by the general lay-out and the clean orderly way of the camp. Most of the scouts have had many years camping experience and have made improvised tables for use at meal times. Inexperienced scouts are in charge of long service officers and everything is done to ensure a happy and comfortable week’s camp.
