Nowhere in South Yorkshire is there such a mixed population miners as in Thurnscoe.

In the clusters houses which have sprung up with mushroom rapidity there are miners from nearly every countv in the country.

Developments at  Hickleton Colliery, the near-by colliery, have been responsible for this large influx of population; and the Council has shown enterprise in coping with the demand that has been created. In all about 1.400 houses have been erected at Thurnscoe.
