Golden Wedding

An employee on Lord Halifax Nicholson’s estate for 46 years, completed 50 years married life and on Monday Mr and Mrs Joseph James Hellewell, of 41, Hickleton, celebrated their golden wedding.

Mr Hellewell has been estate Mason all his 46 years at Hickleton, and formerly served 17 years in a similar capacity of the estate of Lord Wharncliffe of Wortley, when he and Mrs Hellewell were married at Saint Leonard’s church.

Mr Hellewell born 75 years ago at Dean head near Penistone, and his father, the late Mr John Hellewell, was head Mason on the Wharncliffe estates all his life.

Mrs Hellewell is 72 at the time of the marriage the Walkley Sheffield.

They came to Hickleton 42 years ago.
