Sheffield Association League
Hickleton Main 4 Rotherham Town Reserve 5
The meeting of these teams at Thurnscoe furnished one of the most thrilling games of the season, while Rotherham deserved victory by the odd goal in nine, the result might well have been the other way about.
The scoring was alternate, and despite their attacking again and again in the second half, Hickleton could never get the lead. The Town vanguard were sprightly lot, and once they got going for goal so quick and dainty were their touches that the ball was in the net almost before one could realise the fact.
But the Main forwards were a smart lot, only that they found Pilgrim a terror to their well meant efforts.
The visitor’s goals were scored by Bradshaw, Merryweather (two each) and Gosling, while Francis and Hazeldine shared the honours for Hickleton
