Hickleton’s Patriotic Miners.

The report of the Hickleton Main Colliery War Relief Fund gives a very creditable account of the patriotic work done during the war.

Towards the fund the men have contributed a total of £16,426 13s. 6d., and the colliery company have given £15,825 6s. Bd., making, with sundry contributions, receipts totalling £32,268 16s. 2d.

Of this £30,611 8s. 3d. has been paid to dependents, £285 to the tobacco fund, £4O1 10s. for gold watches presented to men who have gained distinction £2OO to the Thurnscoe War Memorial, £200 to the Bolton-on-Deame War Memorial, £352 5s. in other donations and honorariums, leaving a balance in hand on September 30th last £218 2s 11d.
