3,000 Miners Idle
Lightning Strike At Hickleton Main
Nearly 3,000 men have been thrown idle by a lightning strike which occurred at the Hlckleton Main Colliery, near Mexborough, this afternoon.
The men refused to work when they learned that a man employed in the Barnsley seam had not been allowed to work. At a meeting of the men at Thurnscoe to-night it was stated that the man had visited the colliery offices last Friday in respect of some money, which he claimed was due him. He received no satisfaction and an Incident occurred which resulted in his being refused work.
The Union officials strongly advised the men to return to work, but the men decided to continue the strike with a view to getting the man reinstated
