Local swimming enthusiasts will congratulate Mr Richard Crowe, of 127, Barnsley Rd, Wombwell, on his appointment as manager of the new baths at Thurnscoe, and upon his recent marriage.

Mr Crowe has been a leading figure in local swimming circles for many years. The seven years he has been the secretary of the Wombwell Swimming Club, and is a member of the committee of the Yorkshire Swimming Association.

An accomplished swimmer, is the goalkeeper for the Wombwell Polo team, and now the Wombwell senior swimming championship until he was relieved of it by his brother, Mr Clarence Crowe.

There are four brothers, Richard, Roland, Clarence and Beevers, all first-class swimmers
