The Rev. T.B. Powell, M.A., curate at the Mexborough Parish Church, was ordained priest in Sheffield Cathedral on Sunday.
Doncaster John MacArthur, of Denaby Main, has been appointed medical officer to the Conisbrough Urban District Council.
Several football and cricket matches have been played by ladies at Thurnscoe and Goldthorpe this week, for the benefit of relief funds.
There are 351 entries to the Mexborough and District Lawn Tennis Association Tournament, the finals of which will be played at the Denaby Main ground on July 23.
Earl Fitzwilliam has accepted an invitation to unveil the Swinton War Memorial, the date of the ceremony, which had been fixed for June 5, has been postponed.
A meeting of the War Memorial Committee will be held immediately after the settlement of the coal dispute, and the new date will then be decided upon. The local discharged soldier’s organisations will be invited to attend and to arrange for their part in the ceremony.
The Denaby War Memorial Committee have received a gift of the land required for their proposed park, and the following trustees have been appointed: Mr H C Harrison, H Hulley, W Still, A Roberts, T Hill and F Wheatley.
The Anniversary Services in connection with the Mexborough Primitive Methodist Sunday School will be held on Sunday and Monday, May 29 and 30th.
