Marconigrams.

Our linotype and composing staff is still on strike. During the half-year ended June 30 the highest earnings of any of our linotype operators averaged £5 19.. 6d. per week and the lowest. £4 18s. The highest average earnings of a compositor were £4 16s 3d a week. and the lowest £4 11s 4d. The Industrial Court Award reduces these earnings by 3s a week immediately and altogether. 12s 6d  by  Januar. How do these wages compare with the standard of earnings in this district at the present time Every working man who reads this paper can answer that question tor himself.

The Kilnhurst Alliance Band gave a concert in the grounds of the Wath British Legion Club on Sunday evening.

The Bolton on Dearne Urban district is declared to be quite free of typhoid fever.

The Thurnscoe Council have agreed to allow the Barnsley Traction Company to run buses through their district.

Wombwell has been selected as the venue for one of the district meetings on October 9, in connection with the Church Congress at Sheffield.

Swinton regular and special police play their annual charity cricket match next Thursday on the Swinton ground. There will be an ambulance display after the match.

The Bolton on Dearne Urban Council have refused permission to the Barnsley Electric Traction Company to run buses through their district. A similar application from the Mexborough and Swinton Tramway Company had been referred to the Dearne Valley Light Railway Board.

The silver cup given by Mr G.S.Marple, Sheffield for the ambulance competition in connection with the Mexborough App the cultural Shell was won by Wath (number two). 14 teams competed. Four competitors tied for the individual price. The date of the final will be announced in this paper.
