May Queen

Six year-old Nellie Swift, Hanover Street has been chosen to be Queen Blossom in the annual May Day crowning celebrations at the Thurnscoe Hill Infants’ School on Wednesday and Thursday.

Last year she was one of the attendants of Hazel Stringfellow, who will be returning to Thurnscoe for the celebration to be Queen Violet and to officiate at the crowning of Queen Blossom.

The ceremony includes several May-time songs and dances.
