Sheffield Daily Telegraph – Thursday 02 October 1919
Mexborough as Usual.
Business is as usual in the Mexborough district, which apparently is not yet feeling the evil effects of the railway strike.
From inquiries made only two businesses have been affected. viz.,the Hickleton Main Colliery (employing 2,000 men) and the Goldthorpe Colliery (450 men).
With regard to food supplies nothing has as yet been done, as there is no known shortage.
Mexborough, it is thought, will receive supplies from Sheffield, should they be required. There have been several trains through the town this week, but only one passenger has left the town.
