Music Hath Charms
“Fairway Hotel” Brightens Thurnscoe’s Nightlife
The art of the cabaret is found at its best on the Continent. Somehow, our British providers of food and drink to not seem to realise the delights of a little entertainment along with either a full course dinner or a pint of bitter. But there are signs that our native restaurateurs and tavern landlords are waking up and soon the nightlife of English towns may compare with that to be found throughout the rest of Europe.
South Yorkshire set a good lead to other districts from point of view of bright tavern atmosphere. But it would seem that the Fairway Hotel Thurnscoe East, has gone one better than most.
Here has been opened the most up-to-date music lounge in the country. A photograph of the interior appears below, and some impression of the lavishness, the comfort, and the size of the place may be gained from it.
In the background can be seen the stage, and here an orchestra of four expert musicians will play every night. In addition, first class turns will be engaged. Every woman will find the decoration of the lounge a revelation. Expense has not been spared, and costly furniture, carpets and curtains provide the perfect setting for an evening’s leisure. In the words of one woman, “It’s a real home from home.”
