South Yorkshire Times – Saturday 15 August 1942

 No Record.

Stated to have taken passengers by car from the Thurnscoe district to Blackpool, Frederick Whynfray (45), garage proprietor, Chapel Street, Thurnscoe, was at the Doncaster West Riding Police Court on Tuesday fined £5 for having a hackney carriage and failing to keep a record of journeys, contrary to the Motor Fuel (Hire Services) Order, 1941.

Supt. J. Walker said Whynfray was seen

by the police respecting cars owned by him running to and from Blackpool, and was asked to produce his record book. He said he had not kept a record. Mr. E. Brown, defending, pleaded guilty and expressed Whynfray’s regret.

It had been the result of a genuine mistake on his part. Prosecuted at Blackpool under other articles of the Order, he had been fined an aggregate of £11.

Under a similar mistaken idea that the Order did not apply to him the record had not been kept.
