Obstructing the Footpath.
John Thomas Butterfield, a hawker, of Pontefract, was summoned for obstructing the footpath at Thurnscoe on the 22nd January. Defendant’s wife appeared.
P.c. Wordsworth stated that at 2 p.m. on the 22nd January, he was in company with P.s. Johnson in Church Street, Thurnscoe, where he saw a horse standing across the footpath. It was attached to a wagon and feeding from a nosebag. He watched it for fifteen minutes and no one came to it. He then went in search of the defendant, and found him in one of the houses in the street. He drew his attention to the horse and told him he would be reported.
Defendant was fined 10/ including costs.
