Ordered Out.
Disorderly Thurnscoe Defendant.
When three Thurnscoe miners. Albert Dugan, Joe Bennett, and Ernest Hall were charged at Doncaster on Saturday with trespassing in Sue of game at Brodsworth, when it became so abusive that he was ordered out of court, and the case wait heard in his absence.
While witnesses were giving evidence, Bennett used bad language and said he did not care what was done to him.
The evidence showed that, two keepers heard a shot fired this and saw the three defendants in a field. Neil Bennett had a gun in his pocket.
Duggan and Hall wore ordered to pay 4s costs, each.
Bennett was recalled, and again adopted a threatening attitude, saying he would make the keeper run the next time he saw him.
The Clerk (Mr. E. W. Pettifer) advised defendant to keep quiet, remarking that was only making matters worse for himself.
Bennett had a bad record for poaching, and the Clerk said it was no good sending him to prison- he was so used to it,
The chairman (Mr. J. Dymond) said the magistrates had decided to experiment with the defendant. He would be put on probation for 12 months in the sum of £5
Bennett: What’s that mean, sir?
On the Clark explaining he said, “I will give over poaching now.”
