Promising Thurnscoe Youth

Probably the most promising junior in the district is F.C. Taylor, of Thurnscoe who, at the age of 16, has played two seasons in the Mexborough Association League with Thurnscoe Victoria.

At the age of 11 he played for Thurnscoe Council School, and was one of the smartest lads in the Dearne Valley eleven, with which he appeared for two seasons.

Among his “bags” are 10 medals and a County Cap, assisting the County team at left back when they won the Tetley Shield in 1925 – 26.

In that season the Couch did not lose a match.

Last season he joined Thurnscoe Vics, and is now assisting them at inside left.

He can use both feet well, stands 5 foot 7 ½ inches, and scales about 11 stones. He is certain to be picked up by some prominent club.
