Smartest Girl in the W.R.A.F.

Former Thurnscoe girl, Jean Ogden, has been called “the smartest girl in the W.R.A.F.” after she was chosen to attend the Duchess of Gloucester in Germany. She joined the Forces two years ago and went to serve at R.A.F. Gutersloh, Germany, in November.

After attending the Duchess she was described in the German newspapers as “the smartest girl at R.A.F, Gutersloh.”

Her mother, Mrs. E. J. Ogden, who now lives at Cooper Street, Hyde Park, Doncaster, said, “I can’t say how proud I am of her; she loves her life out there,”

Jean has written to her mother, telling her of her experiences in Gutersloh. She described Christmas and New Year, saying the New Year celebrations are similar to our Bonfire night. She describes her life as being marvellous — a great experience.”
