From Germany To Holland

Lance Corporal W Porter
York and Lancaster

Lance Corporal Porter, Whitworth buildings, Thurnscoe, was captured at the battle of Loos, has been a prisoner in Germany (chiefly at Munster) for two years and eight months and a fortnight ago his parents received news that he had been transferred to Holland.

In a letter home he says only those can appreciate the sweetness of liberty who been in prisoners of war in Germany.

He added that but for the parcel from home he could not hope to see family and friends again.
