Soldier Accidentally Killed.
Wath Councillor’s Loss.

Mr. William Riley, of the Butchers’ Arms, Thurnscoe, a member of the Wath Urban Council, and formerly a well-known local miners’ leader, has been notified that his youngest son, Pte. Alonza Riley (Leicestershire Yeomanry), formerly in the surveyor’s department at the Town Hall, Wath, has been accidentally killed while in training at Canterbury.

Pte. Riley was 18 years of age, and had been serving since January of this year.

Two of his brothers are serving, and both have won military honours. One of them, Sergt. 0. L. Riley, is qualifying for a commission.

The funeral took place at the Wath cemetery on Monday.
