Corporal Ward of High Street, Thurnscoe, is in hospital in Boulogne with a gunshot wound in the left hand.  He was wounded on March 31.

He enlisted -in October 1914, and had been in France fifteen months.

Before enlistment he worked at the Grimethorpe Colliery
