Century for Dennis
Swinton trounced at Thurnscoe

After losing two wickets for four runs, Hickleton got on top of the Swinton bowling at Thurnscoe on Saturday.

Denis and Arthur senior put on a partnership of 83 and Denis went on to complete a vigourous and almost chance less century before letting go at anything. He hit three sixes.

The Swinton batting again failed, in spite of stout work by Adey and Price. They obtained a mastery of the fast bowling of Dennis and Longley, but a change to the slow merchants, Bennett and senior, brought about a collapse, the last five wickets falling for 24 runs. Longley helped in the final rout, this time bowling slow breaks.

This Roswell man is a great acquisition. He “bowls with his head,” but the latest Swinton batsmen made a very poor resistance. Only 20 minutes remain for play in the last wicket fell and a little steadiness would have averted defeat.

Longley took five wickets for 35 runs and Bennett 2 for 8.
