Thurnscoe Amateur Dramatic Society

Schoolmaster, churchwarden, Dearne Community Association chairman and president – producer of Thurnscoe Amateur Dramatic Society: that is William Hardy, Lorne Villas, Thurnscoe.

He was a founder of the Society and for the 25 years of their existence has been the Society’s sole producer. Mr. Hardy has produced 57 plays and believes that the advent of the Society has helped to create in Thurnscoe an enthusiastic public which can now enjoy and appreciate good class plays.

He rates “Give me Yesterday,” “If Four Walls Tell” and “Jupiter Laughs” as his best productions. Mr. Hardy has had long teaching experience in Thurnscoe, first at Houghton Road School  and for the past 17 years at the  Modern School. In this connection he has been associated with  drama work and played a prominent part at the fill School In the former drama days, held twice a year. In which every class in the school presented a play.
