Thurnscoe Bride
Miss Annette Denise Haigh, only daughter of Mr. Austin Haigh, Headmaster of Thurnscoe High School, and of Mrs. Haigh, of 41, High Street, Thurnscoe, was married at St. Helen’s Church, Thurnscoe, on Saturday, to Mr. Peter Mitchell, elder son of Mr. and Mrs. Eric Mitchell, of 5, Elm Place, Rawmarsh. The bridegroom is in the Royal Air Force and is serving in Germany.
The Rev. .T. Brawn officiated and Mr. D. Spinks was the organist.
The bride, given away by her father, wore a full length, long sleeved Empire line dress of white, embroidered satin, with veil and wreath, She carried all-white flowers,: lilies of the valley and carnations.
She was attended by the bridegroom’s Mother, Miss Pat Mitchell, and by Miss Christine Heal, who wore full-length, long sleeved Empire line dresses of peacock green satin, with matching shoes. They wore white flowers In their hair, and carried freesia.
The best man was Mr. Philip Mason and the groomsman was Mr. Bernard Haigh. Mr K. WIgman was usher.
The bride’s mother was wearing a turquoise suit with mink collar and had brown accessories.
The bridegroom’s mother had chosen a brown fur coat and a white suit, and had matching accessories.
After a reception at the Queen’s Hotel, Barnsley, the couple left for London, the bride travelling in a red coat over a turquoise dress, with black patent shoes and bag.
