Thurnscoe Child’s Mishap

Run Over in Railway Sidings.

William Hatton, a young child of King Street, Thurnscoe, was admitted to the Montagu Hospital late last night with severe injuries caused by his being run over by a train of empty wagons which were being shunted into the sidings near the Hickleton Main Colliery.

The sidings run along a piece of waste ground at the back of King Street, and it is presumed that the child, while playing, most have strayed on to the track.

The child was immediately removed to the hospital and operated upon. His leg amputated and he was stated to be in a ”very critical” condition.
