£13,000 Wedding Present
Thurnscoe Girl to Marry R.A.F Sgt. Pools Winner
A “Wonderful wedding present” came the way of 21 years-old Eunice Finney of Thurnscoe, and her fiancé, Sg Bryan Richtering this week.
It was a £13.000 share in the £252,075 football pools win of a group of young Lindholme airmen, whose 74-strong syndicate included Sgt. Richtering.
Eunice s parents, who live at 8, Roman Street, Thurnscoe, received a telegram from her on Tuesday morning saying “Rick won pools. Gone to London. See you Wednesday.” Eunice, who works in the N.A.A.F.I. at the R.A.F. Lindholme station, had flown to London with Sgt. Richtering and the rest of the winners to be presented with the prize money. Sgt. Richtering, who is 24, lives at York, and it was he who filled in the line which won the prize. He and Eunice plan to marry in eight week’s time.
Eunice’s youngest sister, Barbara, Phoned to Lindholme on Wednesday morning but the lucky party had not yet returned from London.
