Thurnscoe M.S.M.

The Meritorious Service Medal has been awarded to Sergt. W. Goldthorpe, R.A.S.C., son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Goldthorpe, of Park View, Thurnscoe.

Sergt. Goldthorpe who has just been demobilised, served nearly four years in France, and he and his parents originally lived at Mapplewell.

Prior to joining the forces, Sergt. Goldthorpe was employed at the Hickleton Main Colliery, and was a mining student at the classes there.

He has now return to his former employment, and his many friends will congratulate him on his distinction.
