Thurnscoe Soldier Fatally Injured

Mrs J.T. Fish of 14 Deightonby Street, Thurnscoe, received a telegram on Saturday to inform her that her 20 year old son common Driver Colin Fisher, of the R.A.F.C., serving in Germany was in Hanover hospital seriously ill.

On Sunday she received a message to say that Colin had died after sustaining a fracture of the skull. The family nave not yet been informed how Colin came to be injured.

Driver Fish was the youngest of five sons of Mrs. Fish and the late this Mr. J. T Fish.

He joined the Army two years ago and was due to be demobilised on July 10th. At the time of his death Colin was serving in the Hanover area of the British zone.

He was an old boy of Thurnscoe Hill Modern School and was in the Army Cadet Corps. Before joining the Army he worked at Brough’s store In Thurnscoe, subsequently moving to London, where he worked as a mechanic.
