Mr. Joseph Stones, the new chairman of the Thurnscoe Urban District Council, has been a member of the Doncaster Board of Guardians for eight years, and of the Thurnscoe Council for five years.
Outside his municipal service, he has done very good work for ex-Service men, and himself served -with distinction during the war. He is secretary of the Thurnscoe branch of the Soldiers, Sailors, and Air Force Association and the Thurnscoe branch of the United Services Fund.
He is also a local representative of the Sheffield District Postal Discharge Prisoners Association.
He has been employed at the Hickleton Main Colliery for 23 years.
