Husband’s Distressing Discovery

Yesterday a shocking suicide took place at Thurnscoe.

Mrs. Alice Stockton wife of John Stockton, caretaker at the Thurnscoe schools, was found in the attic, in a pool of blood, quite dead

She assisted her husband in cleaning the school but, not being well, she remained at home. A sister, Mrs. Dunston, was staying with them, but was in bed when Mr. Stockton leftand did not know that Mrs. Stockton had not accompanied her husband. During the morning she noticed Mrs Stockton’s boots in the room, and becoming suspicion sent for Mr Stockton

A search was made, and on reaching the attic the for woman was found with her head nearly severed from the body. A razor was lying near. She was 53 years of age

Mr and Mrs Stockton a well-known Doncaster Wath for a number of years steward and stewardess of the Conservative Club in Frenchgate.
