Thurnscoe’s 218 Houses.

The housing problem is being seriously tackled in the mining district of Thurnscoe, and the scheme promoted by the Urban Council is so far advanced that they can comply with the Government s request, and, if the necessary approval is forthcoming, can commence at once.

The Council have negotiated for 20 acres of land from the Rev. T. T. Taylor, situate on the north side of the present area of property known as ” Garden City,” and they propose to erect 218 houses, each house to have a bath and ‘w.c. and from six to seven roams.

Each house is to have its own cottage garden at the rear and, generally speaking, dwellings will be semi-detached, and blocks of four and six may be erected.
