Thurnscoe Chamber To Continue

A large muster of members attended the annual meeting last night of Thurnscoe Chamber of Trade, and it was decided to continue the organisation.

The secretary, Mr. F J. Bond, who had resigned, but was carrying on temporarily, reported that he had received little or no support during the year, and attendance at the meetings had been terribly disappointing.

Mr. Bond was re-elected secretary, and was assured the members of better support.

Other officials elected were: President Mr. N Frost, vice-president Mr. W. J. Spaven and treasurer Mr. E. Greenoff.

It was reported by Mr. Spaven who. with other members had attended a conference convened by the urban council earlier in the evening, that the council intended to administer the Shops’ Act, and all shopkeepers were given fair warning its operation under the vigilance of shops inspector in future.
