Unhappy Thurnscoe Couple

Ellis Littlewood, miner, Thurnscoe, was summoned at Doncaster on Tuesday by his wife, for persistent cruelty.

Complainant said her husband that threatened to murder her with a razor and treated her cruelly on many occasions.

An 18 year old son said he heard his father threaten to murder his mother scores of time, both when he was drunk and when sober.

Defendant said the cause of the trouble was the jealousy of his wife. If he went to a football match he had to take one of his children with him.

He denied threatening his wife with a razor. They have been married about 25 years.

The Bench ordered the defendant to contribute 30 shillings a week to his wife and a maintenance order, and gave her the custody of the three children.
